Submissions

The Acorn welcomes manuscripts that develop philosophical approaches to activism, pacifism, organizing, and nonviolence. Papers submitted for publication should be prepared for blind submission with title, abstract, author identification, contact info, and institutional affiliation (if any) supplied on a cover sheet.

Manuscripts should be submitted via email, with “Acorn Journal Submission” in the subject line, to the Editor, Greg Moses, at RM95 -at- txstate -dot- edu. Please indicate in the body of the email that the submission is neither previously published nor simultaneous.

Microsoft Word is preferred, but rtf format is also acceptable. Submissions may be up to 8,000 words in length (approximately 32 pages, double spaced). Shorter papers, essays, or book reviews are also welcome. Papers should follow Chicago “notes and bibliography” style with short-form footnotes and a full bibliography.

Upon receipt of a manuscript the usual procedure will be as follows. Authors will receive email confirmation that submissions have been received. If the manuscript satisfies preliminary criteria of fit, completeness, and style, the manuscript will be sent out for blind review.

The author will receive email communication of our editorial judgment, usually within six weeks. Approximately forty percent of all submissions are published.

The Acorn accepts no responsibility for unsolicited manuscripts. Unless accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope, no manuscript will be returned. The journal welcomes letters to the editor, and reserves the right to edit or shorten all submissions.
